Reading is no doubt of paramount importance to the development of children. Reading at a young age can not only nurture children’s self-confidence and independence but it can also ignite their creativity and imagination. For children whose mother tongue is not English, a quality and interesting English reading program can allay their fears of learning a new language and open the gateway to a world of knowledge.
In view of this, Ronald McDonald House Charities® is launching its first school-based English reading program – Read the World, to empower the less privileged students (Primary One to Three) by enabling them to learn and develop good reading habits while having fun. The program features interactive English reading sessions with the guidance of Reading Buddies and a bookshelf full of selected English books donated to each participating.
