Ronald McDonald House

How can I stay at a Ronald McDonald House?

1. Contact the Medical Social Service Unit (or the Medical Social Worker) at the hospital where your child will receive treatment and provide them with your intended arrival date. They will contact us on your behalf and confirm your application.

2. Because each child's treatment is unique, a family’s stay at the House is unpredictable. In general, Ronald McDonald House programs offer rooms for families of pediatric patients under 18 years old. The maximum length of stay at a Ronald McDonald House is based on room demand, the child's treatment period, and their living condition at where they intend to recover.

Who owns and operates Ronald McDonald House in Hong Kong?

The Ronald McDonald House in Hong Kong is owned and operated by the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Hong Kong. It is governed by a Board of Directors who are responsible for program development, standards and operations of both the Ronald McDonald House and the Ronald McDonald House Charities who raises fund to support the House operation.

How is the Ronald McDonald House in Hong Kong funded?

Generous supporters like you help fund Ronald McDonald Houses. The majority of our programming funds come from individuals, organizations and businesses from different industries.

Doesn't McDonald's Restaurants (Hong Kong) Limited fund Ronald McDonald House?

McDonald's Restaurants (Hong Kong) Limited is our mission partner and generously fund part of the Ronald McDonald House operation via.
The collection of customer's donation at local McDonald's restaurants' donation boxes.
However, the majority of the annual operating income comes from individual and other corporate donors.

How much does it cost to stay at a Ronald McDonald House?

The actual cost to operate a room varies between HK$350 and HK$800 a night. Families either stay at no cost or are asked to make a donation up to HK$70 per day, depending on individual financial situation. However, the donation is waived for those who cannot afford it. The difference is made up through your generous donations. Thanks to your contributions, it is a global RMHC policy that a family never be turned away because of their ability to pay.

Who is eligible to stay at a Ronald McDonald House?

Children, from birth to 18 (or 21, depending on room availability no needed), who are being treated at nearby hospitals and medical facilities, and their families are eligible.

How long do families usually stay at a Ronald McDonald House?

Stays can be as short as one night or as long as several months, depending on the child's illness and treatment.

How can I support a Ronald McDonald House?

You can support RMHC of Hong Kong in a number of ways, or we could not operate Ronald McDonald House without donations from individuals and groups. Click here to learn more about getting involved with RMHC.

Ronald McDonald House Family Room

It is our hope to bring in a family room to every hospital in Hong Kong so parents have a comfortable place to regroup and refresh before they return to their child's beside to support them. We believe the first Ronald McDonald Family Room® is not far from fruition.

Who can use a Ronald McDonald Family Room?

Any family with a child receiving treatment in a hospital is eligible to use Ronald McDonald Family Room facilities.

What services does a Ronald McDonald Family Room provide?

Ronald McDonald Family Rooms provide a comfortable environment for parents to relax. A seating area with a television, some snacks and drinks, a simple kitchen area, some reference books, and a quiet room are the basic facilities.

Who operates Ronald McDonald Family Room?

Ronald McDonald Family Room in Hong Kong is operated by RMHC of Hong Kong and responsible to its own board of directors.

Who operates Ronald McDonald Family Rooms?

Each Ronald McDonald Family Room is operated by its local RMHC Chapter and responsible to its own board of directors.
