Ronald McDonald House® has been making children happier and healthier by keeping their families together – giving them a place to rest and refresh. It is a place that feels like home for families with terminally and chronically ill children who are undergoing treatment at the nearby hospital. By offering a supportive environment, parents are able to care for their sick children wholeheartedly during this incredibly stressful time.
Our Global Network
By the end of 2018, there are with more than 365 Ronald McDonald Houses, over 245 Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, and 50 Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles across 64 countries and regions around the world. Our strong global network not only allows us to identify needs globally and carry out the RMHC mission locally but also provides us platform for knowledge and practice exchange.
Ronald McDonald House Charities® Hong Kong
RMHC Hong Kong is an independent entity and a locally registered charity with tax exemption under section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance. RMHC Hong Kong does not receive support from the Hong Kong Community Chest or the Social Welfare Department. We support the House operation through our own fundraising activities. Hence, we rely heavily on the community support to continue and expand our services.
Ronald McDonald House is the cornerstone project of the Ronald McDonald House Charities Hong Kong. Asia’s first Ronald McDonald House was built in Hong Kong in 1996. The House offers a temporary residence or what we often called “a home away from home” for families with seriously ill children receiving medical treatment at the nearby hospital. Only a 4-minute walk from the Prince of Wales Hospital in Shatin, the House provides comprehensive facilities including 23 family units, a common kitchen, library, study room, play area, communal dining area, an organic garden as well as a special-needs room suite specially for families and post bone marrow transplant child patients.
